Mead announced Wednesday that international shipping giant FedEx is expected to break ground on a new 52-acre campus in the town later this spring, with an expected completion date in early 2021.
The new campus, which will feature a 138,000-square-foot warehouse and 10,000 square feet of office space, will be at the northeast corner of Interstate 25 and Weld County Road 34, according to a news release from Mead.
“The state-of-the-art facility will incorporate a multitude of technological innovations designed to expedite the distribution of goods,” the release read.
It’s also just one part of the 218-acre Raterink Business Park, on land that Mead annexed in 2019.
“This project is not only a great fit in terms of land use, but as that parcel of land develops, there will be a host of complimentary uses that will benefit Mead,” Helen Migchelbrink, Mead’s town manager, said in the release.
According to Mayor Colleen Whitlow, the new FedEx campus will create more than 100 jobs.
