Buds break at Blue Sky Vineyard

BLUE SKY BUD BREAK V

MAKANDA (WSIL) — The coronavirus hasn’t stopped mother nature from taking its course — at Blue Sky Vineyard.

With warmer temperatures, grape season is running two weeks ahead of schedule.

The vineyard says this time of the year is referred to as the rebirth of the vineyard.

Operators say the vines will be ready to break bud in two to three days.

“Last year, bud break didn’t occur until April 21st. This year it’s going to be the first week of April,” said vineyard operator Kaleb Wilson.

Although the vineyard is closed, operators say you can still order Blue Sky wine from their website.
