Stray FM donates Secret Sound cash to charity

  • Stray FM’s Secret Sound competition’s been suspended during the coronavirus outbreak.
  • However, in light of the challenging times we all face, the station has decided to donate the cash prize to two local charities.
  • Sarah Barry, Managing Director at Stray FM, states ‘it’s time for us to rally round and help those in need’.

Stray FM is breaking its own rules and suspending the long running Secret Sound competition in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

We have decided to halt the competition with the winning prize being donated to those who help the vulnerable during this global crisis.

Sarah Barry, Managing Director at Stray FM said:

“This is an unprecedented event and the demands on charities are also unprecedented.

“Both charities have an incredible reach across Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale and we are honoured to help them in this time of national emergency.

“There are many vulnerable people who find it hard enough getting by even without COVID-19 – and so this is the time for us to rally round and do what we can by supporting those who keep people fed and safe at this extraordinary time.

Harrogate District Foodbank and Skipton Foodbank are both experiencing high level of demand during the pandemic and we hope that this cash donation will help where possible.

“It’s also worth remembering there are countless charities working at a local level that also deserve help and anything anyone can do to assist them is very important.”

The Secret Sound competition has been running for over a year now and frustrated many with hundreds of incorrect guesses made.

Tune in to Nick Hancock’s breakfast show on Monday morning (30 March) where he’ll reveal the correct answer.

The competition was sponsored by Logic Fire and Security.
