How one Vestal church is using technology to continue bringing people together

VESTAL (WBNG) — New York State’s ban on large gatherings has put churches in our area in a unique position.

“Faith compels us especially in difficult times to reach out and to make sure that no one is left behind,” said Pastor Joe Coudriet of Family Life Church in Vestal.

Pastor Coudriet says the church has responded to that call by going online.

“We’ve been in the space of the sanctuary now. Starting this Sunday we’re going to be in cyberspace live streaming our services in a number of ways,” he said. “More people than attend our church currently will be able to see and benefit from the service and encouragement we hope to bring,”

Coudriet says the church is still coming up with ways for members to interact person to person.

“Each week our church leaders are going to be trying to contact our church members finding out how they are, do they need anything?” he said.

Coudriet says he hopes more places in the community will begin creating similar opportunities over the coming weeks.

“People are going to be looking for community like never before, and I believe that many churches and organizations are going to be there to fill that need,” he said.
