Save on Medicare With My Advocate

Money can be a troublesome issue, but Health First Health Plans aims to give its Medicare Advantage members peace of mind through a program called My Advocate. “Many are eligible and don’t even know it,” said Denitza Hernandez, Health First Health Plans Medicare Sales Director, left, with Marianne Leppard, Health First Health Plans Medicare Sales Associate.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – At a young age, parents start telling their children to “save your money.” It’s an important mindset to have while becoming young adults – but even more true for senior citizens who are on a fixed income and need Medicare assistance.

Money can be a troublesome issue, but Health First Health Plans aims to give its Medicare Advantage members peace of mind through a program called My Advocate.

“Many are eligible and don’t even know it,” said Denitza Hernandez, Health First Health Plans Medicare Sales Director.

My Advocate provides education and assistance free of charge for enrolling into Medicare Savings Programs (MSP) to pay the member’s Medicare Part B Premium.

This amount may be as much as $144.60 per month – a savings that can go toward other much-needed areas.

“They can have a huge sigh of relief and feel much better month to month, knowing there’s a little extra to pay the bills, buy groceries or anything else that comes up,” said Marianne Leppard, Health First Health Plans Medicare Sales Associate.

My Advocate also provides help with Part D Extra Help (Low Income Subsidy) when it comes to lowering prescription drug costs, reducing copay amounts for high-expense drugs and other social programs.

“Transportation, electric bill assistance, nutritional assistance programs – these services reach several social areas in the community, and it’s free for Medicare members,” said Hernandez. “All it takes is a simple phone call to see if you qualify based on your income.”

At no-cost, the My Advocate journey is geared toward helping people find ways to effectively cut costs on healthcare.

Hernandez says most seniors are more than willing to accept a helping hand when it comes to saving money.

“It makes us feel wonderful every time we can help someone who needs it the most,” Hernandez said.

Leppard says Health First Health Plans associates want to make sure our community members know these services are available.

“We’ve received feedback from Medicare members who say they are grateful these programs are available through Health First Health Plans. It’s all a part of Health First Health Plans being the best health plans possible for our members.” Leppard said.
