GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio — Health officials have confirmed the first case of coronavirus in Geauga County. Details regarding the person’s gender, age and condition were not released.
The case was announced Monday morning by Geauga Public Health.
“Models suggest there are more people in Geauga County who are already infected and contagious, but who are experiencing such mild symptoms that they have not sought medical care and have not been tested,” officials said in a press release. “Planning is currently underway to increase access to testing.”
Geauga Public Health is also urging all residents to follow Gov. Mike DeWine’s orders and “expand upon them voluntarily where possible.”
On Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in Ohio reached 37 with 361 persons under investigation. New numbers are released by the Ohio Department of Health daily at 2 p.m.
