MONTGOMERY — According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, there are now 12 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Alabama as of Saturday at 10 p.m. Five of those confirmed cases are in Jefferson County. There are still no deaths associated with the outbreak in the state.

Jefferson County schools announced Saturday that all facilities are closed effective immediately. Several other school systems will do the same. The state is excusing any students who are absent Monday through Wednesday when all schools will close for two and a half weeks.
