‘INNOTECH 2020’ National Technology and Innovation Exhibition to promote research and innovations

Mar 09, Colombo: The INNOTECH 2020 national Technology and Innovation Exhibition organized by the Higher Education Technology and Innovation Ministry in collaboration with Government Research Institutes, Universities and the private sector, will be held from 11 to 14 March, on the premises of Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology, NSBM Green University, Mahinda Rajapaksa National School and the Department of Measurements Units and Standard Services in Pitipana, Homagama.


The exhibition organized under the patronage of Higher Education Technology and Innovation Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardene, Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma and the Chairmanship of Technology and Innovation State Minister Thilanga Sumathipala, showcases research and innovations of the universities and institutions to promote science literacy at all levels of society.


The ‘INNOTEC’ exhibition will be held with the main objective of promoting science literacy at all levels of the society and showcasing research and development outcomes and innovations of the institutes and universities operating under the purview of the Ministry.


The exhibition will stage three zones – an Educational zone, Innovation zone, and a Research and Development zone.


The exhibition will display products and prototypes created as a result of research and development work of institutes and universities, inventions from research institutes, universities and individual inventors, inventions and exhibits from tri – forces and police, edutainment activities (a math lab, educational games, etc.), knowledge on new and emerging technologies (use of solar energy, 5G and IoT (Internet of Things), eurotechnology, usage of drones, etc.), mobile planetarium, night sky observation camps, demonstrations on water rockets, exhibits of student of NSBM, awareness materials to increase knowledge on STEM and other related fields, entertainment activities (dog shows, horse shows, street drama and musical and cultural shows, etc.)


Dr. Gunawardena also said 1200 inventions will be exhibited from 400 schools including the Northern and Eastern provinces.


The exhibition will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. during all four days and entry will be free of charge.
