Body of Faye Swetlik found; man found dead in same neighborhood, chief says

Faye Swetlik, the missing 6-year-old in Cayce, South Carolina, has been found dead, according to Chief Byron Snellgrove, from the Cayce Department of Public Safety. Snellgrove said investigators are treating the case as a homicide. A man was also been found dead in the Churchill Heights neighborhood where Faye was last seen, Snellgrove said. He said that investigation is just beginning. Faye vanished from her front yard Monday. Her family told police that Faye got off the school bus at her regular stop and made it home safely. The family noticed she was missing about 3:30 p.m. and called police by 5 p.m., police said. Authorities have been searching for Faye in the neighborhood and beyond, including a landfill, since she was reported missing. There was an increased police presence in the neighborhood where she was last seen Thursday morning. Earlier Thursday, investigators were spotted going through trash cans set out in the neighborhood.Snellgrove confirmed her body had been found about 2 p.m. Thursday.
