BREAKING: Officials stop social media incident in Denver, Iowa

DENVER, Iowa (KWWL) — On February 1st, 2020 at 1:40 pm, the Denver Police Department received a report of a middle school student from the Denver Community School District who obtained threatening text messages from an anonymous individual.

The threats were violent in nature and suggested the threats might be carried out at the Denver Middle School the upcoming week. The Denver Police Department and Bremer County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation.

It was found out the threat was sent through a TextNow application. The person responsible was identified as an 11 year old female.

The threats were not found to be credible and the school was not in danger. Law enforcement and school officials worked closely with each other and school activities resumed as normal. The Juvenile will be turned over to Juvenile Court Services on a charge of first degree Harassment.
