A train has hit a pickup truck near Port Lavaca on US 35 and State Highway 185.
At approximately 9:50PM, the 2014 Chevrolet Pickup was traveling northbound in Green Lake on SH 185 when it was struck by a train on the drivers’ side door. The driver, James Daniel Jarvis Jr. of Port Lavaca, was pronounced dead around 11PM at Calhoun County Medical Center. The passenger, Ebony Valadez also of Port Lavaca, was uninjured in the crash. She was transported by the Victoria Sheriff’s Department to the hospital as a precaution.
