A series of car break-ins netted a Wilson Borough man hundreds of dollars in money and stolen goods, and now more than 35 criminal charges.
Seth Gallagher, 19, of the 1500 block of Lehigh Street, is accused of breaking into cars in April and August of last year.
In Forks Township, Gallagher had two others with him including a juvenile, while in Palmer Township he worked alone, police said.
It was a Forks Township man’s quick action during one of the break-ins that helped break the cases.
Police said Gallagher was with two others in the early morning of Aug. 1, when a homeowner’s Ring security system alerted him that someone was in his driveway.
The man ran out and saw three males in his vehicle, and he grabbed one while the other two started to run, police said.
One of the thieves came back and started throwing landscape rocks at the homeowner — causing $1,000 in damage — before running away again, police said. That homeowner provided the surveillance video to lehighvalleylive.com, which blurred the faces of the suspects because they were believed to be juveniles, as well as of the victim to protect his identity.
The caught male was a juvenile, and was interviewed by police with his father present. The boy reportedly admitted breaking into 10 cars that morning, and police said they were on Winter Lane, Howe Street, Barry Court, Biddle Lane and Reveres Way.
The boy said he and the other two also broke into cars on April 15 on Katie Court, Andrew Drive and Middle Way, according to police.
Gallagher was identified as one of the two other suspects, police said.
On Aug. 20, Palmer police allege Gallagher broke into unlocked cars on Wilden Drive, Mine Lane Road, Timberlane Drive, Ivy Court, Lieberman Terrace and York Place.
Another surveillance video system caught a man, later identified as Gallagher, breaking into one of the vehicles at 4:30 a.m. on Wilden Drive.
Gallagher was subsequently being held in Warren County prison when he was interviewed by police; he reportedly admitted he was the man in the video, and that he went through vehicles as he walked from his home on Lehigh Street.
Gallagher admitted to the Forks and Palmer township break-ins, police said. Two iPhones stolen during the spree were found in a dresser in Gallagher’s home, police said.
Gallagher is charged with multiple counts of theft from a vehicle, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and loitering, as well as single counts of simple assault and criminal mischief.
Gallagher is being held on $40,000 bail total in both cases.
