After East Asheville line break, city water users under boil advisory

CLOSE

ASHEVILLE – All customers in the city water system are under a boil water advisory on Jan. 8 after an overnight waterline break.

At 1:35 a.m., city spokeswoman Polly McDaniel in a news release described the break in East Asheville as “major,” adding some customers were without water after the incident. More information will be provided when it is available, she said.

The “emergency water interruption due to a waterline repair on/in East Asheville Pump Station” required the city to ask all of its customers to boil water for a minute before consuming it, the release stated.

City water staff will test water and lift the advisory when the risk has abated.
