Trinity Health Of New England expands clinically integrated network of care

HARTFORD – Southern New England Healthcare Organization, a newly-formed entity of Trinity Health Of New England being referred to as SOHO HEALTH, will include Trinity’s hospitals and physician providers in Massachusetts associated with Mercy Medical Center.

The organization is an expanded version of what has been Saint Francis HealthCare Partners, a for-profit, shareholder-drive company owned by its members whose origin dates to the 1990s and a partnership between physicians and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Its expansion as a physician hospital organization as well an accountable care organization is seen as vesting a larger number of providers now in the Trinity system with incentive to providing care based on a bundled, rather than fee-for-service delivery of health care and is said to create one of the region’s largest clinically integrated networks.

The new organization, which is said to include more than 1,700 primary and specialty care physicians, and seven hospitals, means that patients, health care providers and health insurance payers in Trinity’s regional system beyond the Greater Hartford Area will be integrated in terms of access to clinical and cost management information.

“We are pleased to take the next step in this important effort to improve care and reduce costs for our patients,” said Dr. Reginald Eadie, Trinity Health Of New England’s president and chief medical officer.

“As a consistent provider of high-quality, value-based care, Trinity Health Of New England is uniquely positioned to further Connecticut and Massachusetts’ ability to deliver on its goal of universal access to quality, affordable health care. SOHO HEALTH is the latest example of this alignment.”

Lisa Trumble, who served as senior vice-president of population health management and accountable care performance at Cambridge Health Alliance and Cambridge Health Alliance Physician Organization in Massachusetts, has been named president and chief executive officer of SOHO Health.

Previously, she served as vice president of physician services for Berkshire Health Systems and executive director of the Berkshire Health Systems Physicians Organization in Massachusetts.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center became part of Trinity Health Of New England in 2015.

The regional organization, whose hospitals include Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, and Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury as well as Mercy, is a member of Michigan-based Trinity Health, one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the country.
