SALISBURY, Md. -Salisbury Police are conducting a death investigation after a woman was found inside a storage unit on Monday.
Management at Naylor Mill Self Storage called police around 10:30 a.m. Employees tell 47 ABC, the unit was abandoned by its owner so Monday’s finding came as a shock. 47 ABC learned that employees went to put a lock on it but that’s when they opened the door and found something that looked like a sleeping bag and laundry basket inside, so they called officials. Right now, police do not suspect anything suspicious and believe the 62-year-old woman was living inside the unit.
“There was no forced entry into the storage units. There was no outside obvious signs of any kind of injury to her body at this time. Things like that is what they dealt with. They looked at some video camera that they have up there as well. So at this point in time there is nothing suspicious,” says Captain Rich Kaiser with the Salisbury Police Department.
The woman’s body will be brought to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. This is still an active investigation and police are waiting to release the woman’s name until next of kin are notified.
