Water main break floods Salem homes on Christmas Eve

A water main break flooded homes and part of a major road in the city of Salem.The incident on Jefferson Avenue near North Shore Medical Center happened just before noon on Tuesday. The water flooded basements of homes in the area, and crews were working to pump the water out now.Crews are still on the scene, and the Department of Public Works said repairs would take several more hours. It was not immediately clear how much water damage some homes suffered.
