Coast Guard ready for ice breaking

BOSTON, Ma. (AP) The Coast Guard says it’s ready for the ice-breaking season with the arrival of colder temperatures.

The Coast Guard is placing special ice buoys and will break ice once it forms.

The Coast Guard says its operations are vital to keeping people warm this winter. It says 85% of heating oil is consumed in the Northeast, and 90% is delivered on a waterway that’s maintained by the Coast Guard.
