Man arrested in Mansfield house break investigation

A man wanted for allegedly breaking into a home in Mansfield while the homeowners slept was arrested on a warrant after he was spotted Wednesday at a Boston hospital, Mansfield police said.

Kevin G. Gearhart was arraigned in Attleboro District Court on charges including felony breaking and entering in the nighttime, larceny over $1,200, larceny from a building, and conspiracy, Mansfield police said in a press release.

He was arrested after an officer spotted him at Tufts Medical Center, police said.

Gearhart and a second man allegedly broke into the home on Stearns Avenue at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday after they accessed a set of house keys left in the unlocked vehicle of the homeowner.

The second suspect, described as a black man, approximately 6 feet tall and in his mid 30s, has been identified and more charges will be forthcoming, police said.

Gearhart most recently resided in homeless shelters in the Boston area.

A surveillance video inside the Mansfield home revealed Gearhart wearing a dark-colored jacket with a hood, a light-colored shirt underneath, dark pants, and white sneakers with black trim on the bottom. The video showed what police described as a scroll or tribal type tattoo on his inner left wrist that extended underneath his forearm.
