Trade For All-Star SP Corey Kluber Being Finalized

Two-time AL Cy Young pitcher Corey Kluber is on the move. The Cleveland Indians are reportedly on the verge of sending him to Texas.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Rangers are finalizing a trade with Cleveland bringing Kluber to Arlington. The 33-year-old right-hander has been the subject of trade rumors for some time.

Kluber is the latest pitching domino to fall. Stephen Strasburg re-signed with the Washington Nationals while the New York Yankees won the bidding for Gerrit Cole.

The Boston Red Sox are expected to deal David Price, while remaining free agents include Hyun-jin Ryu and Dallas Keuchel.

Kluber was limited to seven starts in 2019 due to injuries, compiling a 2-3 record with a 5.80 ERA. However, he’s just two years removed from winning 20 games.

Kluber finished third in the Cy Young voting in 2018 when he went 20-7 with a 2.89 ERA and 222 strikeouts. He won the award in 2014 and 2017.

A three-time All-Star, Kluber owns a 98-58 career record with a 3.16 ERA and 1,461 strikeouts in 1,341.2 innings pitched.
