Prosecutors officially charged a man with killing a woman and dumping her body in Leelanau County.
The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Wanda Lyons.
Police say Lyons had been staying in Traverse City with her husband for the past few months.
They were living at the Terrace Beach Motel on Front Street off and on for about three months.
That’s where they say she was killed there sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Her body was then found later Wednesday morning about 15 miles away from the motel in Leelanau County
Police say someone dragged her body over a hill and then dumped it in a field in Kasson Township near Kasson Center and South Newman Road.
Frank Supal, a 50-year-old Maple City man, is now charged with her murder.
Police say they arrested him Thursday morning for lying to police about this murder investigation.
He has now been charged with open murder.
Traverse City police say Supal was also an intermittent resident Terrace Beach Motel.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Traverse City Police Department Detective Bureau at (231) 995-5012 or email TCPDtips@traversecitymi.gov.
