BREAKING Man and woman arrested in Dover on suspicion of terror offences

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of terror offences relating to Syria, police said.

A West Midlands Police statement said the pair were arrested in Dover, in Kent, on Saturday, and the arrests were not linked to the London Bridge terror attack last month.

The force said: “A 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested in Dover.

“The man was arrested on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorism offences and funding/supporting terrorism.

“The woman was arrested on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorism offences.



Police said the arrests are not linked to the London Bridge terror attack

“The arrests were carried out by West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit detectives and the two are being questioned at a police station in the West Midlands.

“The arrests were intelligence-led; there was no risk to the public.

“The arrests are not linked in any way to the London Bridge terror attack and enquiries into this matter were underway prior to the incident on 29 November.”
