A mass shooting was reported on NAS Pensacola just before 7 a.m. Friday.

Details are limited at this time, but confirmed information indicates some number of people shot in what was a active shooter situation on the base. The active shooter situation is now over The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is confirming that the alleged shooter was shot and killed by an Escambia County deputy.

Baptist Hospital is reported that they have received at least nine patients.

There is a mass emergency response to the base at this time. The public should avoid the entire area around the base; the base is locked down. Patients are being transported to local hospitals.

There is no word that it was related in any way, but there was a World War II Remembrance ceremony planned for 10 a.m. today at the National Naval Aviation Museum. The Tate High School Vocal Jazz and Wind Ensemble were scheduled to perform. NorthEscambia.com has confirmed that the Tate High School students were not yet on base.
