A civilian died in a house fire on the 100 block of Weaver Lane in Cañon City Sunday morning, according to Cañon City Area Fire Protection District Lt. Shane Roberts.
No other information about the person who died has been released at this time.
The fire was reported at about 10:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they saw fire and smoke, Roberts said, adding that the fire was “brought under control quickly while being contained to the building of origin.”
Carie Canterbury, a Daily Record reporter, drove by the residence at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. She said the area smelled like smoke and the coroner was on scene.
The fire is still under investigation. This article will be updated Sunday if more information is received.
