Selection of technology universities sites across Egypt starts

CAIRO – 23 November 2019: Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Areas Assem al-Gazar presented to Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar earlier this week potential sites to establish technology universities in new cities.

Gazar clarified that the introduction of such universities in new cities is expected to attract potential residents and commercial activities that would serve dwellers. That is in addition to the initial of role those education establishments in offering qualified candidates for the labor market in relevant sectors.

Abdel Ghaffar clarified that the specialties in each university would be selected according to the economic activities in the geographical zone. The minister stated that the political leadership has given directives to expand in technology universities to fulfill the requirements of development plans.

The cabinet approved in 2018 a draft law on the establishment of technology universities. Upon the bill, eight technology universities will be built across the nation, three of which are being constructed in New Cairo, Quesna and Beni Suef.
