In an upset that denied North Central College its 20th national title, the Pomona-Pitzer men’s cross-country team made history Saturday, winning its first national championship and the first ever NCAA title for P-P men’s sports teams.
The Sagehens’ final score of 164 edged out second-place powerhouse North Central (182) and third-place Williams College (183) in the 8,000-meter race in Louisville, Kentucky.

Fresh off his win at the West Regional Championship last week, Ethan Widlansky PO ’22 led the Sagehen men, placing seventh in 24:32. Dante Paszkeicz PO ’22 followed close behind in 16th, with a time of 24:48.
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men finished sixth, with Thomas D’Anieri CM ’20 finishing third in the country.
