HYANNIS — A Hyannis man arrested in July for breaking into a store on Iyannough Road pleaded guilty Friday in Barnstable District Court.

Joseph Piotte, 34, pleaded guilty to charges of breaking and entering a building during the daytime and intimidating a witness, juror, police or court official, according to court documents.

Piotte was given a concurrent four-month sentence at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility with 110 days deemed served for both charges.

Piotte broke into the Guaranteed Fresh Produce Co. at 7:45 p.m. July 4, according to a police report.

An employee caught Piotte trying to enter the upstairs office, the report says. When asked how he got in, Piotte got angry, knocking over a box and throwing a bottle before leaving, according to the report.

Store employees provided a description of Piotte, who was later found by police, the report says.

Piotte also pleaded guilty to intimidating a witness in connection with a phone call made to his probation officer July 13. On that date, Piotte left a voice message threatening to kill his future cellmate if he was convicted in the breaking-and-entering case, according to the police report.
