In a move to further focus on its health care supply chain services, United Parcel Services will be adding 1.3 million square feet of distribution space across the country — including a new 450,000 square-foot facility in Louisville.
The warehouse has already been built, and it lies at 6204 New Cut Road, near the health care campus of the UPS Worldport hub, according to spokesman Jim Mayer.
With this building, which the Atlanta-based company is leasing, UPS now has more than two million square feet of health care distribution space in Louisville.

And in full operation, the new facility could create up to 200 new jobs, according to Mayer.
“The building is designed to be multi-client, with more than one customer, and UPS is in the process of securing those customers,” Mayer said. “But with the growth in our healthcare business, we anticipated the need for additional space.”
In the last five years, UPS has added an array of new facilities south of the company’s Worldport hub, including a health care logistics solutions division off Outer Loop. With more than 20,000 full- and part-time employees at its Derby City facilities, UPS is the largest job provider in Louisville.
This move marks the latest in a series of big announcements by the package delivery service. Last month, the company announced that it will invest $750 million in a series of projects over the next 10 to 15 years in the Louisville area.
In addition to Louisville, other cities where UPS will expand health care warehouse space include Atlanta, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Columbus, Ohio, Reno, Nevada and Tracy, California.
