KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The Armed Forces Natural Hair and Health Expo brought people from all over the country to Killeen on Saturday.
More than 30 booths and exhibits were on-hand at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center with workshops also for those attending.
“What I think about is making someone feel good about themselves, wearing their natural hair so they can feel good in their own skin,” said Luvina Sabree.
There was also music, performances and an appearance by Aevin Dugas, the Guinness World Record Holder of the World’s Largest Afro for a female.
“With me it’s about the kids, it’s about us as females and the males in our community and to learn how to embrace something that at one time was looked at negative. I think it is necessary and we need to do it every year,” Dugas added.
