Man arrested after high speed chase that ends in Brandon
Chase ended at Highway and Louis Wilson Drive
A high speed chase in Rankin County ended with a crash and a man in jail. Chief William Thompson said Brandon police, Rankin County officers and a Rankin County K-9 officer caught the suspect at Highway 80 and Louis Wilson Drive.Police said the suspect, who has not yet been identified, ran through a checkpoint in Polkville, sparking the chase through three counties. Brandon police officers and Rankin County deputies pursued the suspect into Brandon, where they put down spikes to stop the vehicle. “He hit the curb and disabled the vehicle (and) he could not continue,” Thompson said. “The suspect, at that point, exited the vehicle and ran on foot. Rankin County and Brandon officers gave chase on foot (and) a Rankin County K-9 was able to make the capture in the woods.”Police have not said what charges the driver faces.
