A man faces state and federal charges after an elderly woman was sexually assaulted and robbed during a Lake Highlands home invasion early Tuesday.

Kristopher Charles Martin Brown(Dallas County Sheriff’s Department)

Kristopher Charles Martin Brown, 19, was booked into the Dallas County jail on one count of aggravated robbery. He also faces federal charges of carjacking and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police were called to the 9200 block of Cliffmere Drive, near Walnut Hill Lane and Audelia Road, about 5:30 a.m. for a report of a robbery. The victim told officers she had been sexually assaulted.

According to a federal criminal complaint, Brown broke into the 88-year-old woman’s home, probably through the back door, around 2:30 a.m. He punched her in the face and then raped her, authorities said.

After the attack, he took the woman’s money, her car keys and a Remington shotgun, the complaint says. He tied her to a chair and disabled her phones before driving off in her 2007 Lexus SUV, according to authorities, writing on an envelope that she’d find the vehicle in five days at an apartment complex on East Overton Road.

Neighbors told KXAS-TV (NBC5) that the woman was later able to get to a nearby home for help.

Dallas police arrested Brown on Tuesday afternoon at a gas station in the 9300 block of Skillman Street, where he was reportedly putting gas in the Lexus. The shotgun was in plain view in the back of the SUV, police said, and Brown’s shoes matched footprints found in the woman’s backyard.

During an interview, Brown told officers he’d bought the Lexus at an east Oak Cliff apartment complex for $900 and purchased the gun at the same time, the complaint says. He reportedly asked police whether anyone died and said that “the old woman got up.”

Brown remained in custody Wednesday, with bail set at $100,000. He does not have an attorney listed in court records.
