Breaking: 1 ejected, 5 injured after Troy Township crash

Five people were injured after a crash Monday morning in Troy Township.

Troy fire crews responded about 7:10 a.m. Monday to the intersection of Route 52 and County Line Road for a reported crash, Troy Fire Chief Andy Doyle said.

When fire personnel arrived, they saw two vehicles, one of which appeared to have rolled over, he said. One individual was reportedly ejected from the vehicle that had rolled.

A medical helicopter was initially called, but Doyle said it was later sent back.

Three people were transported to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and two were taken to Morris Hospital.

Route 52 was closed from Baltz Road to Ridge Road, and County Line was closed from Baltz to Seil Road, while Illinois State Police investigated the incident.

It was not immediately clear how the crash occurred.

State police Master Sgt. DeAnn Falat said she did not yet have any information about the crash at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, as police were still on the scene.
