French chef and UK TV presenter Fred Sirieix has provoked outrage in the UK after breaking a KitKat the wrong way on television.

Sirieix was presenting a new show which looked at Britain’s best-loved snacks called Snackmasters when the shock moment was revealed.

As part of the show which challenges chefs to discover the secret techniques and recipes behind them, Sirieix revealed the first selection was the KitKat.

But he enraged people by snapping the four-fingered chocolate bar widthways, as opposed to breaking off each finger individually.

Sirieix demonstrated the Kit Kat’s iconic “snap”, saying to the camera: “This four-finger to salute to Britishness has been part of your culture for longer than the Queen has been on the throne. It deserves a crown of its own.”

Condemnation was quickly laid at his door after the moment aired on TV.

“Noooooooooo!!!! Please don’t break a KitKat like that!!! Don’t torture me!!! Take my car, my phone, my wallet, just don’t snap four Kit Kats like that you MONSTER!!”

Another was less impressed with Sirieix – “HE’S JUST DONE IT AGAIN!! Someone stop this mad man. He’ll be snapping people’s necks next. I guarantee it.”

However, some pleaded for some perspective to the situation.

 “Stop crying it’s literally a chocolate bar,” they said.
