What records Alabama, Tua Tagovailoa could break this season

Alabama’s top offensive playmakers could use this off week to rest after setting records left and right through the first five games of the season.

Last week alone, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa set a school record with six touchdown passes, while receiver DeVonta Smith set program marks with 274 receiving yards and five touchdown catches.

After Alabama’s offense tore apart the school’s record book last season, it is on pace to top many of those numbers this season.

With at least one-third of the season complete — Alabama has played five out of a possible 15 games if they make the SEC championship, and eventually, the CFP national championship — it is timely to check what team and individual records could fall if the offense continues along its current path.

Alabama’s schedule will get tougher as autumn progresses, but they still could rack up big numbers against bottom-tier SEC teams Tennessee (Oct. 19) and Arkansas (Oct. 26), as well as FCS opponent Western Carolina (Nov. 23).
