A social media bracket challenge coordinated by Bluegrass Cellular will award a $5,000 technology prize to one area school.
Nominations are being accepted for the 2019 Battles in the Bluegrass school spirit program. High schools in Bluegrass Cellular’s coverage area compete to collect Facebook “likes” and “loves.”
The company, which is headquartered in Elizabethtown, randomly will select eight high schools from the nomination pool to compete. Entries are due by midnight Sept. 26 at bluegrasscellular.com/battles. Each high school will need to email email@example.com the school logo and/or mascot to be eligible to participate within two days of first notification attempt.
The schools selected will be paired off during a Facebook Live drawing at 3 p.m. Sept. 27. The bracket challenge kicks off Oct. 7 with two weekly announcements of preliminary winners leading to the finals.
Schools will battle it out on Bluegrass Cellular’s Facebook page at facebook.com/bluegrasscellular. Once the bracket matchups have been announced, fans have 48 hours to vote for their favorite schools online on posts that contain content featuring paired schools’ mascots or logos.
In this bracket-style competition, the winner from each matchup will advance to the next round. This process ultimately leads to the finals, which determine the school that receive the $5,000 prize.
