SAN ANTONIO – Surveillance cameras played a big role in preventing a burglary at a Northeast Side storage facility Tuesday morning.
San Antonio police say thanks to the cameras, they were able to arrive quickly and interrupt the burglary in progress.
Police say an on-site manager at A-AAAKey Mini Storage called them shortly before 4 a.m. to report the burglary in progress.
When officers arrived at the facility, located near I-35 and Thousand Oaks Drive, they saw two men take off running.
Officers chased both and quickly caught one man.
The second one, they say, managed to climb over a fence and get into a white pickup with a U-Haul logo on the side.
Police launched their helicopter in an attempt to spot the truck from the air, but they did not find the second suspect.
They say although the suspects did break into one storage locker, they did not appear to have gotten away with anything.
Several items of property were left scattered across the parking lot where the suspects dropped them as they ran away.
Police say the man who is in custody likely will face a charge of burglary.
