Embezzlement of over $1,200 reported

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of an embezzlement of more than $1,200 from a powersports dealer in Frenchtown Township.

The theft of money occurred sometime between July 11 and Aug. 19, according to a sheriff’s report. An investigation was launched when the general manager discovered cash was missing from a transaction that required service to be performed.

Cash stolen from home

About $900 in cash was reported stolen from a home in Bedford Township, according to a homeowner who said someone broke into his house while he was gone. The man told deputies he had just sold his car for $1,900 and put some of the money in the home in the 1000 block of Howard St. Entry was gained by crawling through a window, a report showed.

Thieves scared off

Two would-be thieves were scared off from attempting to break into a garage in Frenchtown Township when a resident of the home awoke after hearing a loud banging noise.

The incident occurred about 1:20 a.m. in the 3200 block of Lakeshore Dr., Erie Shores, according to a sheriff’s report. The resident, who was sleeping upstairs, turned a light on in the locked garage, but didn’t see anyone. When he looked out a window, he saw two persons enter a blue Dodge Ram pickup and drive away, heading northbound on N. Dixie Hwy. It was believed the suspects attempted to enter through a rear overhead door, a report showed.

Man caught outside business

An Erie man was arrested by Michigan State Police after he was seen jumping from trailer to trailer during an apparent breaking and entering of B& B Restorations in the 7600 block of Lewis Ave. in Bedford Township.

A sheriff’s deputy arrived and drew his taser weapon, but the suspect surrendered and was arrested and taken into custody. The trailers were parked inside a closed, gated fence with barbed wire on top.

Shoplifters flee Bedford store

Two unidentified black females exited the Rite Aid store in Lambertville without paying for about $90 in body wash and shampoo.

A video surveillance camera showed two females taking bottles and concealing them in a purse and then fleeing the store at 7358 Secor Rd. in a white four-door car.
