The Hate Is Out There: 'X-Files' Actress Gillian Anderson Spoke Nice About Margaret Thatcher. Leftists Triggered.

Another SJW hate storm swirled into the Twitterverse on Saturday when “X-Files” actress Gillian Anderson said something semi-nice about former conservative British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

According to Variety, the actress forever remembered as Agent Scully has been tapped to play Thatcher in the upcoming season of Netflix’s hit series “The Crown.” Following actor John Lithgow’s turn as legendary Prime Minister Winston Churchill in seasons 1 and 2, Anderson’s inclusion among the season 3 cast will mark the second time that Netflix has tapped an American to portray a British figure.

Shortly after Netflix announced the big news, leftists began scolding Anderson on social media because she dared to admit her guarded admiration for Margaret Thatcher as a person and as a political figure.

“I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of ‘The Crown’ and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman,” Anderson said in a statement. “Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable, but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”

Since nobody can speak even the slightest bit of nuance when referring to politicians three steps to the right of Lenin, the SJW trolls have since been correcting Anderson for not including the phrase “literally Hitler!!!” in her brief reflection on Margaret Thatcher.

“Feels like we don’t really need anyone falling in love with Margaret Thatcher at the moment, but okay!” said Vulture staff writer Jackson McHenry.

“So many conflicting emotions,” said Ali Plumb of the BBC.

“DON’T MAKE ME FANCY THATCHER,” said British comedian and author Mitch Benn.

Other Twitter users were quick to bring out the Hitler comparisons, because Thatcher was apparently just like the leader of the Third Reich. Or something.

“Gillian Anderson playing Thatcher is like Tom Hanks playing Hitler! Sure, they would do a great job, but it just feels wrong!!” said one user.

“Watching straight dudes and lesbians ponder how the s*** they’re ever going to knock out a successful wank to Gillian Anderson when she’s playing a literal f***ing monster is my new favourite kind of Twitter,” said another user.

“So Gillian Anderson is ‘falling in love with the icon’ Just Jesus Christ. Thatcher was a monster and war criminal who supported death squads in Northern Ireland, pandered to racism, and systematically persecuted the poor and working class of the UK,” said another.

Podcast host Tina Wargo, however, felt the backlash against Gillian Anderson’s comments were sexist, given that male actors routinely receive accolades when taking on controversial roles, including Hitler. “When Gillian Anderson plays Thatcher: ‘I just don’t know how I’m supposed to support her still when she’s playing such a divisive character.’ When men play literal Hitler: ‘a great actor such range,” tweeted Wargo.

Others came to Anderson’s defense, arguing she should not face a cancelation campaign simply for portraying Margaret Thatcher.

“How are y’all ‘canceling’ Gillian Anderson for portraying a politician you don’t like….. Margaret Thatcher is a historical figure, as awful as she was, she still existed. you didn’t ‘cancel’ people for playing far worse historical figures,” one user rightly tweeted.
