Perth woman locks herself in bathroom as 'invader cuts power before breaking in'

A suspected home invader has been arrested and taken to hospital after a series of break-ins in Perth’s northeast.

Police were called to Ivanhoe Street in Morley shortly before 7pm after reports a 22-year-old man targeted two homes and a car – before pleading for help after cutting himself on a window.

Police say he turned off the power of a home before smashing through the front window.

The woman inside, who was home alone at the time, ran to the bathroom, locked herself inside and called police.

She says the man then wandered through the house, bleeding heavily after cutting himself on the smashed window.

The man then staggered into the street where neighbours heard him screaming for help.

Police say he then targeted a second home across the road before jumping into the passenger seat of a parked car.

The owner of the vehicle managed to lock him inside until police arrived.

Arrest

When officers unlocked the doors the man ran out towards them, acting erratically before jumping on the bonnet of the police car.

Witnesses told 7NEWS it took around six officers to eventually detain him.

The man was arrested and taken to Royal Perth Hospital to undergo surgery to a deep cut to his hand.

No charges have been laid.
