BREAKING: No Charges In Otsego Co. Deputy-Involved Shooting

Michigan State Police say the Otsego County prosecutor will not charge a deputy who was involved in a deadly shooting earlier this summer.

It happened back in July.

Otsego County deputies were trying to take Chad Williams in for a court-ordered mental evaluation.

State police say he refused to go with the deputies and threatened them with an ax.

They tried to tase him twice, but Williams moved towards them with the ax raised.

That’s when an Otsego County deputy fired the shots that killed Williams.

That deputy was placed on paid administrative leave while the prosecutor reviewed the case.

State police say the prosecutor determined the deputy didn’t violate any laws and that the use of deadly force was necessary.

None of the deputies involved in the incident were hurt.
