The Ministry of Education (MoE), represented by the School Operations Sector, English Language Section, has approved offering the school subject of design and technology to kindergartens I and II and the students of grades 1 and 2 of cycle 1 as updates to the new academic year, which started on Sunday.

The ministry said in a circular that the school subject would be taught in kindergartens by the kindergarten teachers who already underwent training in this connection, emphasising the importance for students and educational cadres to co-operate to ensure that the subject is smoothly taught.

In a separate circular, the ministry underlined the importance for the principals of cycle 1 schools to add the design and technology school subject to the study plan of the grades targeted this year at two classes per week, stressing the necessity to modify the study plan to ensure easy access to the labs and learning sources for both the students and educational cadres.

Meanwhile, the ministry represented by the Curricula and Evaluation Sector, allocated an Islamic education class within the time plan for memorisation and recitation to be given once per week for grade 1 to grade 5 students with a view to developing the skills of students in memorising the Holy Quran and developing their linguistic skills.

Memorisation and recitation classes were also allocated at one class per two weeks for grade6 to grade 12 students.

Recently, the Ministry of Education launched “Hello School” Initiative titled “Kafu,” conveying the message of gratitude and appreciation to the workforce employed by the education sector, coinciding with the start of the new academic year 2019-2020, according to WAM.

The initiative targets teachers, administrators, students and parents across the United Arab Emirates.
