CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – One health department here in the east is making changes to a certain type of testing due to a nationwide shortage.
The Carteret County Health Department is offering limited routine tuberculosis skin test screenings.
Health officials say this is due to a nationwide shortage of the purified protein derivative that’s used in that type of testing.
The tests will only be given to those who are considered high-risk or those recently exposed to people with TB, those born or visiting countries where TB is common, or those living in places like homeless shelters or correctional facilities.
