Traffic back up at School of Science & Technology forces parents to park and walk their children to school

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Kids going back to school at the School of Science and Technology were excited to be in a brand new building.
However, parents weren’t so thrilled with the traffic. The new campus is just off Saratoga Boulevard near Kostoryz Road. It was previously located at Everhart and Saratoga.
The traffic on Monday morning was a little daunting for parents as they drove into bumper-to-bumper traffic that was backed up for blocks around the school.

“Traffic is bad, we had to park across the street over there… That made it easier though to just walk,” said parents, Lance and Crescelda Orck.

“We parked near over the Little Caesars and just walked in,” said Joseph Leonard, a father who decided to park at a nearby business and walk his child to school.

Businesses weren’t too happy with parents filling up the lots. Owners said customers were left trying to figure out how to get to them.

TxDOT officials believe the traffic jams were a result of the new school year starting and believe things should be back to normal in a few days.
The local police department says SOE officers will monitor the traffic there just to keep things safe.
