Sunday News Medical Journal: SNHMC cath lab update with state-of-the-art technology | Health

The Catheterization Lab at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center recently underwent a major technology upgrade to improve patient care.

A cath lab is a hospital room where doctors use imaging to perform minimally invasive tests and procedures that diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease, including blockages and other problems in the arteries.

“The Siemens Artis Q PURE is now being used in these delicate cases delivering the lowest dose of radiation to our cath lab patients,” explained Dr. Paul Boffetti. “As part of this exciting technology, we also have a hi-resolution display monitor that is extremely helpful in allowing us to vividly see soft-tissue and determine the intervention that is best for our patient,” Boffetti added.

The replacement of the cath lab technology, including the table, c-arm, display monitor and boom, took less than three weeks and was completed without closing the service.

“I’m especially proud of the multidisciplinary team members who had to execute on a two-week plan to maintain patient care during this important technology upgrade, and they were successful,” said Mike Rose, president of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
