MCSD refreshes technology for new school year | News, Sports, Jobs

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County School District is starting the new school year with more than 1,000 new or replaced technology devices.

Director of Information Systems Doug Cunningham spoke during a school board meeting held Thursday evening at the administration building in Lewistown. He provided an update from the technology department.

In his report, he said the district has added or replaced 528 laptops and 594 desktops, and acquired 30 new iPads.

“We owe a big thank you to you guys,” he said, addressing the board.

Cunningham said districts that waited until later in the year to order new devices have not received them yet. Because the school board approved the order in February, MCSD has already received its hardware.

Thursday’s report from the department was about 16 pages long. Some of the projects Cunningham highlighted were streamlined login procedures, new district and school websites, STEM initiatives, upcoming purchases and funding.
