Breaking: Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announces CB Tavon Young has a ‘serious neck issue’

After the Ravens won their 15th straight preseason contest, the mood quickly shifted from positive to negative as head coach John Harbaugh announced CB Tavon Young is dealing with a “serious neck issue.”

This news comes only months after the young, budding star signed a three-year contract extension worth $25.8 million with $13 million guaranteed.

According to Harbaugh, the Ravens are recommending surgery, which would end Young’s 2019 campaign, missing his second full season in the NFL.

The silver lining to this injury is Young’s injury not expected to be career threatening as the Ravens lost LB Zachary Orr to a congenital neck issue.

Looking at this from a football perspective, the Ravens are deep at cornerback and explains the reason for Cyrus Jones playing extensively at the slot position against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of the preseason. Now, expect the Ravens to lean on Brandon Carr, Jones and Anthony Averett to fill in for the talented Young in 2019.
