WHITE SWAN, Wash. – Law enforcement officers responded Wednesday evening to a reported homicide near East Walnut Street and First Street in White Swan.

Yakima County Sheriff’s Sgt. Judd Towell says deputies are investigating the death of a woman in the 400 block of First Street as a homicide.

Towell said a man has been arrested in connection with the woman’s killing and is currently in sheriff’s office custody.

As of early Thursday morning, East Walnut Street is cordoned off between Signal Peak Road and First Street, while First Street is closed between the White Swan Library and White Swan High School.

Yakima Nation Tribal Police and deputies responded to the scene. Towell said the sheriff’s office is handling the initial investigation but it’s unknown at this point who will be in charge of the case moving forward.

This is a developing story and will be updated as further information is available.
