The Dallas Cowboys got a great deal when they traded for Robert Quinn from Miami for a 2020 sixth-round pick. The veteran pass rusher has been having a good camp so far, but on Tuesday, he got mixed up with left tackle Tyron Smith in a one-on-one drill and suffered an injury to his hand. Quinn was favoring his hand and received immediate attention from the team doctors.
It’s unclear what they are dealing with exactly, but here’s a reason to be optimistic.

The Cowboys added Quinn this offseason to help strengthen their pass rushing rotation. With DeMarcus Lawrence already missing time as he recovers from shoulder surgery, and the uncertainty of Randy Gregory – Quinn is a guy the team needs in the lineup. Over his eight-year career, he has totaled 69 career sacks, including his 19 sack season back in 2013. The team is hoping the 29-year-old veteran still has plenty left in the tank as the defense looks to take the next step forward.
Quinn’s absence will open the door for more players to showcase their stuff in camp as the Cowboys have plenty of depth along the defensive line. Dorance Armstrong has had a great training camp. This could be the break Taco Charlton needs to get something going. The team also has free agent Kerry Hyder as well as a couple rookies in Joe Jackson and Jalen Jelks.
While this provides other guys with chances, hopefully Quinn will make a quick recovery and be ready for action by Week 1.
