62-year-old Dr. Mario Hernandez could of been on vacation in Montego Bay or the Cayman Islands sipping on delicious beverages, but Dr. Hernandez instead placed himself in the middle of multiple sexual assault incidents concerning many of his female latino patients in Charlotte, NC.
On August 2, 2019 Dr. Hernandez plead guilty to sexually assaulting several women in his office during medical exams. There were 20 women that came forward accusing Dr. Hernandez of sexually assaulting them during doctor appointments.
Dr. Hernandez had his own practice named Family Medicine Care on 816 E Arrowood Road Charlotte, NC. The doctor specializes in family medicine and dentistry.
The women claimed that they trusted Dr. Hernandez, but he violated them.
On November 25, 2015, an adult female victim reported that she went to Family Medicine Care for a medical examination. During the examination Dr. Hernandez, sexually assaulted the victim. After leaving the facility the victim reported the incident.
On November 30, 2015, a second adult female victim reported that she went to Family Medicine Care for a medical examination.
During the examination Dr. Hernandez sexually assaulted the victim. The victim reported the incident after leaving the facility.
On December 4, 2015, a third adult female victim reported that several months prior, on May 6, 2015, she went to Family Medicine Care for a medical examination, and during the examination Dr. Hernandez sexually assaulted her.
Detectives with the Sexual Assault Unit in Charlotte were notified of the incidents and launched an investigation, Dr. Hernandez was then arrested.
Upon Dr. Hernandez’s arrest 20 women came forward claiming they had been sexually assaulted by the doctor.
Several years later Dr. Hernandez was sentenced to two years probation and given a suspended 60-day jail sentence. He must also register as a sex offender for 30 years and give up his license.
