Coral man murdered, police arrest Howard City man as suspect

MAPLE VALLEY TOWNSHIP — A Howard City man was arrested Sunday evening after a Coral man was murdered Saturday night.

According to Michigan State Police Lakeview Post Det. Ed Doyle, police responded to a call in the 16000 block of McBride Road near Arbogast Road around 11 p.m. Saturday, where a 57-year-old Coral man was discovered near death.

“He was given medical assistance, but he died at the scene,” Doyle said.

“We do have a confirmed homicide,” Michigan State Police Lakeview Post Lt. Commander Kevin Sweeney added.

Doyle said the man’s cause of death has not yet been determined and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Doyle said a 30-year-old Howard City man was arrested Sunday evening as a suspect in the murder.

Doyle said it is not yet known whether the homicide was drug-related.

Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services assisted the Michigan State Police at the scene.
