A road in Hannibal remains closed after a water main break over the weekend.
Crews fixed the water main that broke Saturday morning along West Ely Road.
Monday, the street department began working on that road after it buckled from the water main break.
Traffic is being sent around the break through a side street.
“These things obviously happen all across town and I don’t know if it had to do with the weather or the temperature of the ground or the condition of the pipe. There are lots of different factors that go into a main breaking,” said Kari Goodman with Hannibal Board of Public Works.
Goodman said the cost to fix the water main break itself is estimated to be $6,000.
